“Stupid. So stupid. We are all so luxuriously stupid when things are good in our life.”
Okay, this was a book that I saw on my Instagram so many times and I just couldn’t resist. I have been on a mystery kick lately and this one definitely fit the bill.
I had heard of the author, Harlan Coben, before and had seen him on The Today Show but had yet to read his books.
When I saw that he was doing an author event with my favorite bookstore, Thunder Road Books in Spring Lake, NJ, I decided to grab I Will Find You and dive in.
And boy did I dive in! I read this one in literally four days and couldn’t wait to get to the ending.
Harlan Coben will FOR SURE be someone I read more of and already have two more of his books on my shelf at home.

Author: Harlan Coben
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spicy Level: Not a spicy book!
Summary from Amazon: Five years ago, an innocent man began a life sentence for murdering his own son. Today he found out his son is still alive.
David Burroughs was once a devoted father to his three-year-old son Matthew, living a dream life just a short drive away from the working-class suburb where he and his wife, Cheryl, first fell in love—until one fateful night when David woke suddenly to discover Matthew had been murdered while David was asleep just down the hall.
Half a decade later, David’s been wrongly accused and convicted of the murder, left to serve out his time in a maximum-security prison—a fate which, grieving and wracked with guilt, David didn’t have the will to fight. The world has moved on without him. Then Cheryl’s younger sister, Rachel, makes a surprise appearance during visiting hours bearing a strange photograph. It’s a vacation shot of a bustling amusement park a friend shared with her, and in the background, just barely in frame, is a boy bearing an eerie resemblance to David’s son. Even though it can’t be, David just knows: Matthew is still alive.
David plans a harrowing escape, determined to achieve the impossible–save his son, clear his own name, and discover the real story of what happened. But with his life on the line and the FBI following his every move, can David evade capture long enough to reveal the shocking truth?
My Thoughts: I will be honest with you, the first time I read the synopsis of this book, I was instantly intrigued.
When we first meet David, he’s in prison and trying to deal with everyday life while he serves his life sentence. And from the moment he was introduced, I felt warmth toward David.
Yes, I know he was convicted of killing his son but his personality really leapt off the page for me and I felt like I was in the prison with him. The way Coben writes brings the reader fully into the story and I found myself picturing the scene and the people in it.
One of my favorite parts of the book was the characters. From the warden to David’s father and his ex-sister in law, each character felt like a real person and I had real feelings toward them.
David’s journey to finding out the truth about what happened to his son is absolutely something, as a parent, I would do if in the same situation. I would move heaven and earth to find my daughter and David was willing to risk it all to find the truth.
And the truth… I did not see that coming!
Sometimes, books don’t live up to the hype that I see on Instagram but this was not one of those. I Will Find You deserved every post and story I saw about it and maybe even more!
If you are looking for a mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you wonder what’s coming next, then you have to grab this story.
Have you read this one yet?
